LOWVELO25 Thursday Night Stationary Training Ride

This weekly stationary training rides is in partnership with the MUSC Wellness Center every Thursday evening at 6 p.m. The training rides are offered at no cost to all Wellness Center members. For those who are not Wellness Center members, please download and print a free pass to bring with you.

Join us for snacks and refreshments from 5-8 p.m. at Ride Bikes (1055 St. Andrews Blvd., Charleston)! We will be discussing LOWVELO, and all things training, preparation, routes, and fundraising! Come learn how you can join the Ride Bikes team and help ride to cure cancer.

Glow Blue Week Kick-Off

Come visit the LOWVELO team at the James Colbert Library to grab some fun swag and take advantage of our MUSC student and employee discounted rate ($300 fundraising commitment for ANY route) and matching donor program. All you have to do is raise half of your $300 minimum by November 30 and a donor will match the rest!

Glow Blue Wellness Day

Ready to move, sweat, and feel amazing? Come to the MUSC Wellness Center all day long and visit the LOWVELO table to grab your free LOWVELO-sponsored class pass and enjoy any class for free – spin, yoga, HIIT, strength training, and more!

7th Annual Glow Blue Festival on the MUSC Greenway

This is our biggest event of the week! LOWVELO will take over the MUSC Greenway. Stop by to enjoy live music, vendors, food trucks, and exciting giveaways! Make sure you stop by the LOWVELO table to get a $5 voucher for the food trucks. And take your chance to dunk your favorite coworker, professor or dean in the LOWVELO dunk tank! 

Department of Surgery FUNdraiser at Bay Street Biergarten, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Join The Bladed Bikers, Hot Wheels, and ImmunoT as they toast to a future with no cancer! The Department of Surgery teams are coming together to raise funds for LOWVELO and Bay Street Biergarten is generously donating 15% of food sales to support their efforts. Plus, diners will be entered in for a chance to win a prize pack. Stick around afterwards for trivia from 7 – 9 p.m.

Research Ride with The Charleston Beer Riders, 6 a.m.

Start the day early and get some training in. Depart from the MUSC Greenway (where Doughty meets Jonathan Lucas) and take a thrilling ride through campus and over the Ravenel Bridge.

LOWVELO Lunch & Learn – Yogic Breathing with Dr. Sundar Balasubramanian, 12 p.m.

Join this world-renowed expert in yogic breathing for an inspiring breathwork session. Discover techniques to enhance wellness, increase focus, and relieve stress. 

Shuck Cancer Oyster Night at The Darling Oyster Bar, 4-7 p.m.

Support the clinical trials LOWVELO team! A percentage of the proceeds will benefit the Trials and Smiles team thanks to The Darling Oyster Bar.

This ride hosted by Charleston Beer Riders departs from Edmund’s Oast Brewery every Tuesday evening. Gather with bikes in the courtyard by 6 p.m. Please be sure to have helmets, lights, water and any basic tools and tubes you’ll need for repairs. Refreshments are available for purchase at Edmund’s Oast Brewing after the ride.
 
There are three route options:
  • Our beginner ride is great for newbies because you ride around Hampton Park at your own pace. Each loop is one mile and riders can complete as many as possible in an hour.
  • The intermediate ride (15-17 mph) goes to Sullivan’s Island and back, a 24-mile roundtrip ride.
  • Advanced riders (19-21 mph) will depart to Sullivan’s Island and loop the perimeter and back for a 27-mile ride.

Hellhole Gravel Grind & 1-day Gravel Fondo

The Hellhole Gravel Grind features a weekend of gravel and offers multiple events geared toward riders of all abilities held entirely within the confines of the Francis Marion National Forest near Charleston, SC. 

The pinnacle event, a three-day stage, is the first and longest running gravel stage race in the United States.  Featuring nearly 150 miles of gravel, the race begins with a one-of-a-kind night-time prologue showcasing competitors under the twilight of the forest canopy.  The weekend also features 45 and 75-mile gravel fondo options for those inclined.

LOWVELO Adopt-a-Highway: IOP Connector Clean-Up

LOWVELO has officially adopted the IOP connector! Show up and clean up one of our favorite ride routes! Bags, gloves, safety vest provided. Meet in the Target parking lot in Mount Pleasant as far from the store as possible. We will meet there and move into position to clean the eastbound lane/shoulder.
