Meet Chris Winn, LOWVELO's new event manager

After months of searching for the perfect person to join LOWVELO as our new event manager, we are so excited to finally welcome Chris Winn to our team! Chris is an avid cyclist with a background in event management, sales and marketing. He is passionate about growing the Charleston cycling community, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and fighting back against cancer. We know he will lead LOWVELO to success this fall! Learn more about Chris and why he is excited to join LOWVELO below.

Where are you from originally?

I was born and raised in Honolulu, HI, then moved to Fort Collins, CO for school, and never went back.

What brought you to Charleston and how long have you been here?

I moved to Charleston in 2009 while in the beer business and have been lucky to call this place home ever since.

Tell us a little bit about your work background and what you bring to the table as our new event manager.

I’ve always been a cyclist, I love how events bring people together and I’ve seen how putting the two together can make for some memorable moments. I’m eager to combine my experience with both for a cause.

Are you married? Do you have any kids?

I am incredibly lucky to call Karen Winn my wife. We have 3 children in our “Brady Bunch,” Keegan, Addie and Delaney.

Any pets?

We also have two dogs, George and Margaret.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Riding a bike is up there, but generally spending time outside. Also, food, music and exercise.

How long have you been a cyclist? Do you have any fun or interesting stories you can share from any rides or races?

Like most people, I’ve been riding a bike since I was a kid. I’ve been lucky to ride all over the United States and in Belgium and Ireland.  I’ve got more bike stories than we have blog posts, but I’ll gladly talk bikes with anyone who wants me to at any of our events!

What made you decide to join the LOWVELO team?

 1) It is a great opportunity to work with some super talented teams. We have a chance to promote cycling in Charleston, encourage healthy living and rally support for our purpose.

2) Cancer has hit my family hard. It hits every family hard. I’d very much like to help MUSC hit back.
