Rachel Haynie is a graduate from the College of Charleston with joint degrees in Business Administration and Hospitality and Tourism Management. She joined LOWELO in 2021, having been in the event management industry for over 15 years working as an Assistant Race Director with the Cooper River Bridge Run. She has also worked with other well-known events in Charleston including the Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble, the IOP Connector Run and The Charleston Marathon. Rachel also holds a position on the board of directors for the Kelso Bishop Family Foundation.
Rachel is originally from Baltimore, Maryland, and has called Charleston home for 17 years. She lives in West Ashley with her husband, Ashton, and her two sons, Bryce (2) and Wyatt (8 months). Rachel enjoys spending time with her family including participating in family-friendly community events, boating, horseback riding and baking.
Shannon Rice joined the LOWVELO team in 2019. She started her career in the non-profit industry as a charitable gift coordinator at Genentech and then as a Foundation Officer for Union Bank in San Diego. After eight years managing recruitment and marketing for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in Hampton Roads, Virginia, (where she fell in love with cycling fundraisers), she decided to open her own dairy goat farm and cheese-making business. Moving to Charleston in 2016, she worked as the March for Babies manager for the March of Dimes.
Shannon’s passion for cancer research began when her father lost his battle with esophageal cancer in 2009. Through LOWVELO, Shannon found a new interest in cycling and enjoys riding the backroads of Johns Island with her husband and Tri It for Life friends. She resides in Charleston with her husband, Tim, three cats and their Rottweiler puppy, Lady.
Katelyn LeBlanc was born and raised in Charleston and joined LOWVELO in 2021. She graduated from Bishop England High School and then the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. During her time in college, she was a member of Kappa Delta national fraternity and developed a strong background working in non-profits through several internships at the Cooper River Bridge Run. She also volunteered for other local non-profit events including the Knights of Columbus Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble, Lowcountry Buddy Walk and Komen Race for the Cure.
Katelyn moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, after graduation and worked as a Technical Recruiter for the 15th Largest IT Staffing Firm in the US, Signature Consultants, recruiting nationally for Fortune 500 and high-tech companies such as Google, Apple and Bank of America. Since then, she has returned to her roots as a Charleston native and lives locally. She enjoys spending time with friends and family, relaxing on the beach or boat, trying new restaurants and activities around the city and capturing the beautiful views Charleston has to offer through sunrise and sunset photography.
