solo 2020

Thanks for helping make our virtual LOWVELO a great success!

COVID-19 didn’t stop us from fighting back against cancer!

Thanks to all of our 2020 participants and sponsors for helping to make our first virtual LOWVELO a success! While COVID-19 forced us to change our original plans, we’re glad we could continue to stay active together and raise money for lifesaving cancer research.

Even though we’re done logging miles for this year’s event, fundraising will continue through Dec. 14. Additionally, our Strava groups will remain open. We encourage you to continue being active and staying connected with us all year long!

Stay tuned for more details on LOWVELO 2021! Join our mailing list so that you’ll be among the first to know when the date of next year’s event is announced.

100% to Cancer Research

While we won’t physically be together, one thing does still remain the same – 100% of every dollar we raise supports cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center.

LOWVELO rider & cancer survivor

I think I'm the luckiest guy on the planet. Here I am, diagnosed with cancer myself, and I get the best treatment from the best people in the world.

There’s Power In Numbers

We are stronger as a community. We have many ways to help you stay inspired and log your miles. Check out our new Why I LOWVELO board where you can share your favorite spots to walk, run and ride as well as what motivates you to raise money for cancer research.

Here are other ways to connect: Follow us on social media, share your story and tag us to recommend your favorite bike paths, trails and fundraising tips. Check out the special LOWVELO groups we’ve formed on Strava as an added resource for us to challenge and encourage one another. And bookmark our blog where we’ll be featuring stories from some of our amazing researchers and participants, like Lucy Boyce. Living in Alaska, Boyce is currently LOWVELO's farthest away participant and is helping us reach our goal of having someone join from all 50 states. Check out our progress on the states challenge below!

Timmy Samec

First Hollings LOWVELO fellow & cancer survivor

My main focus is to participate in LOWVELO to ride for others experiencing cancer. It’s also going to be in the back of my mind that I am riding for myself, but I think I primarily will ride for those who have it a lot worse with this disease.

Check out Timmy’s story and learn about other LOWVELO riders on our blog.
